This project was inspired by the leftover pieces of copper I had lying around after building my Copper Wine Rack. All I did was fit some of the old pieces together, making sure that the frame was tall enough to hold the paper towel, and wide enough so that it would sit far enough away from the wall
Materials needed to make the towel rack:
- 1/2" copper pipe
- 2 copper elbows (1/2")
- 2 copper clamps (1/2")
- 2 copper caps (1/2")
- epoxy
I simply pieced together my leftover copper pipe pieces, but you could easily just cut 3 pieces of pipe – one for each side, and one for the bottom. Above is the ratcheting tool I used to cut my copper pieces.
The bottom piece was about 4" to make sure there was enough space for the shop towel to sit on nicely. The longest front piece was about 12" long. Our back piece was about 8", but you could vary these sizes.
Dry fit all the pieces with the elbows in place to make sure it all fits well. This photo as well as one below shows you the configuration to put your pieces in.
Then use the epoxy to glue everything together. Mix the epoxy and join all of the copper pieces quickly, using a speed square or level to make sure they are set at 90 degrees and sitting straight.
After it all sets, use the clamps and some screws to attach the towel holder to the wall.
VoilĂ !
Another project to personalize his manly space. I love the industrial look of this simple DIY. Perfect for any guy that loves woodworking, working on cars, or just putzing around the garage. It’s super quick and easy to make, and you KNOW he will appreciate this industrial project!

I guess great minds think alike...I just made one for my kitchen! It's so much more convenient and doesn't take up counter space. :)
