Hidden Medicine Cabinet Storage
I was so tired of our messy bathroom storage shelf so I found some nice wooden signs and turned them into hidden cabinets!
Hometalk Recommends!
This was my messy, ugly medicine cabinet before...
Pick some art/signage
I found these existing wooden signs at Hobby Lobby
Measure sign/art
To build a frame I wanted to get the exact measurements of my sign/art.
Cut your wood
I cut my frame pieces using 1x4s to match the art/sign.
Miter the corners (optional)
This is a butt joint which will work just fine! I decided to miter my corners for a more professional look.
Here are the perfectly matched corners.
Stain or paint
Stain or paint your frame to match your art/signage
Add shelves
You can add as many shelves as needed. Attach with wood glue and nails through the outside of the frame.
Add hinges
I bought some little hinges at my local home improvement store and screwed them on my art and newly built frame to attach.
Magnetic Closure
Finally, I added a magnetic closure to keep the door from swinging or gaping open. You can also find this at your local home improvement store.
Here's the final product! I'm so happy with how much storage it adds to this small space and how good it looks!

Frequently asked questions
Have a question about this project?
How did you mount them to the wall?
How far do the hinges swing back? I think I'd reverse the hinges on the far cabinet. Reaching around it would drive me 🤪 crazy.
Such a really great idea! I’m curious… is it possible to take the back off the picture frame after all put together?? Just in the event that you would like to change the pictures out occasionally?
