Has Been Media VCR DVD Cabinet Becomes Useful Bathroom Storage
Our HOA Pool ladies room needed some serious TLC and was transformed with some paint, garage find decor and elbow equity.
For some reason over the years our ladies bathroom had become a utility room with a sink and toilet. Sadly I did not take any before photos of this terribly embarrassing place. There was the tall storage cabinet prominently placed between the sink and toilet, "needed" to store our paper products and cleaning supplies. On the wall to the left of the sink was a utility strip holding multiple brooms, some pool equipment, and other junk piled along the floor. Strangely the men's room had nothing. We ladies deserved better!
And so it began, starting with the OVER-SIZED cabinet that was full of mostly junk, nothing was ever thrown away just stuffed in the cabinet. There was another upper cabinet opposite from the toilet, also filled with 98% junk that was removed.
I love to make something out of nothing and finally found this lonely media cabinet at our local thrift store that met ALL the requirements
had to be lockable, check
low profile, check
fit in the space between the sink and toilet, check
cheap, checked out for $10
Husband repaired sprung hinge, added casters, removed a shelf making the spacing taller to accommodate paper towels, toilet paper rolls will go in the doors.
Priming began, took two coats.
Now to decide on a color, something unexpected.
Painting begins, took three coats to completely cover.
Remember this bathroom needed lots of love...
We replaced the 35 year old yellowed light fixture with a faux recessed LED, wow so bright.
Then after 35 years a fresh coat of soft blue paint
I cut the "broom holder" to fit the small area unseen across from the sink.
Being a generous woman I happily shared, moving the heavy work brooms and a fold up table to the men's room and the tall utility cabinet is outside where it belongs.
A couple garage sale finds including the small cabinet over the toilet for ALL the cleaning supplies.
