1800s Bakers Table MAKEOVER
I had a client approach me asking if I would redo her bakers table! I had never done one of these before, but I love the history behind it. This was an all original one! I was so happy to get the opportunity. One of my favourite before and afters 😍 check out my website and my Instagram to connect! 🖤
Whoever painted this before didn’t do the greatest of jobs, there were paint drips EVERYWHERE!
this bakers table is made out of fir, and fir is a very soft wood! Especially when it’s so old!!! So sanding you had to be very very careful we didn’t damage the wood.
- Sanding is 80 grit
- finish sanding with 220 grit
- with touch up from my dremel
I’m bad for not always wearing masks, but when doing antiques you never know what type of paint you they used....
I used zinsser bin primer shellac based! 2-3 coats.
I have a Wagner spray gun! And it makes my life so much easier! I used Canadian tires branded paint - premier furniture paint in bright white. Spinel legs are very hard to paint by hand without using to much paint and covering everything you need so that’s where the spray gun comes in handy!
I used provincial stain by miniwax on these drawers, using paper towel.
I used varathane satin water base top coat! 2 coats
All done and I am very happy with the outcome! I would love to hear your thoughts 🤗 love the farmhouse feel!

Beautiful update! Did you use sprayer to apply the top coat?
Beautiful work!
When you sanded, were you able to sand the spindle legs or did you just use the primer?
Thanks in advance!
