Macrame With Vintage Wooden Spoon Holder
Do you have a vintage spoon holder but you're not into collecting spoons? This idea brings those outdated spoon holders into modern boho farmhouse style. Plus there's less knot tying than many macrame wall hanging.
This spoon holder hangs on the wall and holds collectable spoons. I found it at our local thrift store. I liked the spindles.
My grandma collected spoons from the states and had a much larger holder. Actually, friends and family who traveled gave her the spoons. She rarely left the farm.
I used chalk-based black paint on the holder. Then use a sanding sponge and wet sanded the paint in the higher areas.
Macrame hanging usually start with a hitch knot, but that would not work with the spoon holder. So I cut two long pieces of macrame cord and made a simple knot in the center. The knot slid into the first spoon slot.
This left four cords to tie macrame knots.
I started with the spiral knot. More about the knots are on the website.
The spiral knots continue to make a loop in the spoon holder. Then I inserted the four cords into another spoon holder slot.
I continued spiral knots to make a smaller loop on top. Then again inserted the cord in the last spoon slot. Notice in the picture you can see another section with cord I tea dyed overnight.
I added the tea dyed cord to the holder the same as the spiral. Then tied square macrame knots straight down to the bottom spoon slots.
Hang the spoon holder in your favorite location. I added macrame feathers to the finial knots.

This was easy to make and has fewer knots than most macrame wall hangings.

'Nice idea to use the spoon rack as a backing for the wall art, but I think it would look more finished, and less lopsided if there was more macrame, including a tassel, added to the left side.

I absolutely love this! I used to make the plant hanger with my Nana. I cannot remember the beginning process to make them again. Love the feathering feature! Neve seen that one before it’s stunning! Great idea for wall art!
