How can I make one of those pretty globes out of a bowling ball?
You all have seen them I am sure. Usually metallic looking and multicolored. Is there a way to paint a bowling ball to look like these very expensive globes>?

Hello. I have only seen copper pennies glued to a bowling ball. Please post your project if you find a good one. It sounds like a very exciting project
Iridescent acrylic paints are a combination of pigment mixed with aluminum silicate (powdered mica). After drying, the paint will appear shimmering or reflective depending on how fine or coarse the powder is in the paint. This type of paint can be found in both fine art and craft stores. Cover with several coats of spray clear polyacrylic sealer.
Scuff with steel wool then wipe down with denatured alcohol. Then you can spray primer and paint. I would use RustOleum metallic for the effect.
You can also glue on glass beads or pennies with e6000 glue

Hello Amazing. Start by sanding off the glossy surface of your bowling ball. Then clean the entire surface well. You can spray paint it in desired background color, probably blue. Krylon spray paint has all-in-one primer and paint and would be a good choice for this project. Allow it to completely dry according to instructions on the can. Lightly sand surface between coats and clean well. Next you can paint the bowling ball. You could also use things like pennies, string, old jewelry or flat back gems to decorate it with. Please consider posting this project here on Home Talk so that we can all see it. Good luck Amazing Grace.
