DIY Dollar Store Dish Mat Sign
This is a cute easy way to make a sign when you don’t have metal mesh or chickenwire on hand. Check out what I did to make this with a Dollar Store calendar and a dish Mat. For a few dollars you can have cute seasonal decor on a budget!
What you need:
DT dish mat
DT calendar
wood or wood frame
sliver and black paint
DT foam board
scissors
green garland (Walmart)
DT mod podge
stain or paint for frame
stapeler
Take your dish mat outside and spray it in sliver. You could also hand paint if you don't have spray paint.
Next, I cut 1x2 and built a box to fit my mat. I then stained the wood Old English.
Set the frame over the mat.
Flip it over and staple in place.
Now you have your frame and background and you can put just about anything you want in it!
I took my image from this Dollar Store Calendar. You can really use anything though.
I used my mod podge and applied it to the foam board.
I then cut it out with my scissors and glued on the green garland to the edges.
Then, I used more of the garland and went though the top and bottom to wire it on to the mat. This way, I can easily change the sign later if I want to.
Just pull it through the back and twist it.
Embellish it however you like! I added a checker bow and some twine.
Now I’m ready for the holidays!
