What can I use to cover the top of my ugly dresser? Is there any type of paper that I can use.

You could put a vintage dresser scarf on it or make one out of pretty fabric.

If paint can't even hide an ugly dresser, refinish it with fabric for a chic and simple makeover. Rich and luxurious fabric can add a pop of color, pattern or texture to your old furniture to make a showpiece for your home.

You could always paint it. There is absolutely nothing that will give you an instant update for so little money like paint will. If you have the time and patience, be fearless--PAINT!
There are some fun ideas here:

You could decoupasge ist with some interesting designs using ModPodge. If you'd like to try something less permanent first, you could try a pretty design of gift wrap paper cut to fit the top, contact paper, chalk board paint, etc. You might just try taping a few pieces of scrapbook paper to get an idea of how you want to add something permanent. Have fun!
You could cover with contact paper that looks like marble. There are several projects where people have done that on kitchen countertops and bathroom sinks.
You could cover it with any self adhesive wallpaper, there are so many different patterns available.
Hi Dorene,
Washable Wallpaper, Contact sticky backed plastic. Good luck!
I agree that you can glue, adhere or mod Podge almost any surface. Could you just paint it? I've stripped and stained or painted some pretty rough surfaces, and I have been pleased with the results. Good luck and stay safe!
Depending on the dimensions of your dresser top, you could try finding a frame in a thrift store, then make your own tray from it to put on the top.

Use peel and stick wallpaper from Walls Need Love
You could paint , as several Hometalkers have suggested, on top of the paint, consider using a design transfer, this company has some beautiful ones:

Peel and stick wallpapers or contact paper, or you could use Mod Podge and create something custom cool.
For my dresser that was getting badly damaged from makeup, lotions and just every day use, I found a pretty dresser scarf and put on top. Then got a piece of glass cut to fit the size of the dresser top. Loved it....no more having to be careful of the dresser top.
Contact paper is always a good option, but not very hardy.
You can use a contact paper or even wallpaper, but my first choice is to paint it.
Many people use chalk paint as you don't need any prep.
Hi Dorene, you could give it a quick sanding and do a quick coat of chalk paint on it, I love chalk paint! Or pick up some nice looking contact paper and put a layer on there.
