This is a base recipe with baking soda and citric acid to make a reaction to fizz. I also used arrowroot powder to slow down the reaction. It's colored with mica and activated charcoal. I used 2 parts grapefruit essential oil and 1 part frankincense to scent mine.
Halloween Bath Bombs
Learn how to make Halloween bath bombs. This is a fairly easy recipe for bath bombs, but it looks more difficult with Halloween themed sprinkles and layering the different colors.
- 1 cup baking soda
- 1/2 cup citric acid
- 1/2 cup arrowroot powder
- 1/4 cup Epsom salts
- 2 tablespoons coconut oil, melted
- 1 tablespoon polysorbate 80
- 1/2 teaspoon essential oils or 50 drops
- 3/4 teaspoon red mica
- 1 tablespoon activated charcoal
- 2-4 tablespoons Halloween sprinkles
Mix all of the dry ingredients in a large bowl. Melt the coconut oil and add the essential oils and liquid ingredients. Slowly pour the liquid ingredients over the dry ingredients and stir well. Separate into two bowls and color one red and one black with the charcoal.
Dust one side of the mold with arrowroot powder. This helps it unmold easier. (The other side will come out easy with the sprinkles)
Add sprinkles to the other half of the mold. Fill each mold about half full with red bath bomb mixture.
Add black mixture over the red. Overfill each side slightly. Press each side together firmly. Let sit for 24 hours to harden. Tap the mold gently to unmold.
They are ready to use immediately. If you want to give them as gifts or store for later, store them in a container so moisture from the air doesn't activate them.

So lovely pity to.use.them
Have a question about this project?
Won't the sprinkles make a mess in the tub?
They will dissolve.
Will these dark colors stain the tub or your skin?
Not if you use the polysorbate 80. If you don't use it, the mica and charcoal will cling to the tub.
How do you get your reds so RED....this is the one color for soap or bath bombs that I have a hard time with. Love these.
I used red mica
