Simple DIY Wheat Wreath
Have you seen the price of a premade wheat wreath? Shocking! Placing a wheat wreath is a perfect way to add Fall to your home. It's a decoration I do not have as of yet, if you have followed me you know this means there will be a DIY project below. You guessed it.
This DIY was pretty easy to make. It was just wrapping wheat stems around a wire form. Let me show you just how easy this was to make. Here are the items I will be using.
- a bundle of wheat
- wire wreath form
- floral wire
You can find bundles of wheat in any store that sells floral stems, I found mine in TjMaxx.
You can use any type of wreath form you want, if you are using a wire form I would recommend to remove the inner ring from the form. I am using a mini wire wreath form from Dollar Tree.
Attach the floral wire to the wire form, wrapping it around the frame several time to make sure it is secured on the form. Do not cut the wire, this will be your working wire.
I am using 4 pieces of wheat to form a bundle.
Arranged the wheat in your bundle then lay it in place on your form. Wrap the floral wire around the wheat and the form to secure them together.
Cut your wheat stems to size with scissors.
When placing each bundle on the form, place the bundles in different angles.
I kept doing the same steps until I got close to the end.
The wreath is almost done. You will find as the space gets smaller you are not able to add the long bundles without damaging the top of the first added bundle.
To avoid damaging the wheat tops, cut the working wire and secure the end to the wreath form.
To make it easier to add the wheat bundles, gather the 4 stems of wheat, cutting the stems to size and wrapping the bundle with a long piece of wire.
Cut off the excess stem, lift up the attached wheat to place the new bundle underneath. Secure the bundle with the wire wrapping it around the wire form. Keep adding bundles the same way until your wreath is full and the way you want it to look.
My wreath is finished, it turned out exactly how I thought it would look. What do you think? It was so simple and affordable to make.
