Hi Blanca paint stripper would work great for this. For the least toxic out there is one called Citra strip. After tis stripped I would clean it up with mineral spirits, sand it lightly and then repaint or stain.
Hello,
Use a paint stripper! Paint on and let it do it's work. Don't forget to wear gloves and glasses to protect yourself. A Mask would be good too.....
Citristrip paint remover is the best, just follow package instructions. Or if you don't want to use a paint stripper you could manually sand off the paint or use an electric sander. You can use steel wool for hard to reach or stubborn spots. Then give it a cleanup with paint thinner, make sure the area is well ventilated. When dry give it a light sanding.

Citri-Stripper should work very well. Be sure the lamp is unplugged!
Work in an area protected from the strippper, then apply the stripper liberally onto the painted areas. Wrap gently in a plastic bag or saran/plastic wrap and let the stripper work for an hour or so. Scrape or remove the stripper & paint and clean well to see if you need to apply a second application. If not, you're good to go. Rinse the piece well using a clean moist cloth, let dry completely and you're ready to paint, stain, or apply whatever finish you chose.
