How to Make a Sweater Lamp!
Hi, I'm Amber Oliver! I hope if you enjoy this project you'll also stop by my blog!
Did you pull out your winter clothes and find a sweater that doesn't fit? Or maybe it has a hole in it and can't be donated? How about using it to make some cozy home decor! One fun idea is to make a sweater lamp with your old sweater.
Start with a blank lampshade - or one you are tired of! I found this one at a thrift store and it was damage so I knew it'd be perfect for this project!
I also found a fun sweater for 2 bucks!
I measured around the lampshade and cut so it was wide enough to cover the whole thing. I used a small sweater so it fit nice and snug right over the lampshade. I then glued it in place along the edges!
This is a super simple, quick, and fun project to bring a little coziness into your home this winter! I hope this project inspires you to upcycle an old sweater into home decor! If you'd like to see other creative upcycling ideas, please visit my upcycle archives!

I did try this and my shades went from cheap drab to fab. It was fast, easy and inexpensive as I had a new sweater I didn't like after I brought it home, it worked out beautifully. If you do not use glue you can change it up for different seasons.

Frequently asked questions
Have a question about this project?
Did you keep the sleeves on or cut them off? Hoe did you hide them?
Are you concerned about the fire hazard?
Why glue? If you want seasonal it should be snug enough to stay put how many times do you move a lamp or a shade. Turn on & adjust if needed. Nice winter idea but not year round
