Solid wood bedroom furniture (not ikea)?
Hello all,
I'm looking to find something a step above Ikea, but not too expensive.
I really just need: https://100001.onl/ https://1921681254.mx/
- a queen sized bedframe + headboard
- 1 large dresser (maybe 6 drawers)
- 1 small dresser (maybe 4 drawers)
- possibly a small night stand, depends on how much space I have
What brands, stores, etc would you recommend? I like a contemporary style. (Comfortable, not super modern, etc)

Hooker furniture is a brand that is really high quality.
I would consult someone at a furniture store. They are very familiar with the different brands and how they are made. I'm sure they could steer you in the right direction.
Check your local goodwill. Mine has 75% off their prices several times a year and I got a handmade solid wood dining room table for $15. Patience really pays off at places like this.
You could try a Restore, Craigslist, local postings in grocery stores, consignment shops...
Hello. There’s some excellent options in my local area on Facebook Mark marketplace and craigslist. We’ve got some spectacular furniture secondhand looking online.
I would suggest to try that and see if there’s anything that pops up that you might enjoy.
I would check at thrift stores or Goodwill type stores - people donate nice furniture and you can buy it for a good price
a lot of areas have online yard sales too you can look at in your area and there is always Rooms to Go and Ashley Furniture that has every kind of style
Hi Sylus,
Have you tried looking on 2nd time around markets such as eBay, Charity Shops, Markets Local Classified Adds etc.
I like to go to Estate sales in my area. You can get some really good buys on furniture. Go to the Website Estatesales.net and check it out for your area.
Scour marketplace and thrift stores. You could diy build a headboard once you get other pieces. Paint to match and bring styles together.
Are you looking for bedroom furniture that you put together yourself, such as pieces than come in a flat pack, or partially assembled? Or, are you wanting bedroom furniture that is delivered fully assembled already?
Estate sales and or a visit to a Habitat for Humanity, St Vincent DePaul Store. All have nice donated furniture at a bargain. I used to work at estate sales and was amazed what "walked out of the sale at a rock bottom price. Best ways to get the great value and wood furniture!
I agree with the many who suggeted that you take a look at thrift stores to get quality real wood furniture at a good price. This may take some time, but overall you will end up with much better furniture that has been well made. Often the stores have 1/2 price days or % off days. If you have moe time than money, this is an excellent option to furnish your home with quality, unique items.
Do you have a Value City Furniture by you? We got a set of couches there that were very affordable and they help up for a long time.
Hi Sylus, try thrift stores, and even Walmart sells some nicer furniture, & there is always the online option as well.
Find a hobbiest in your area that has a small sawmill. Perhaps they can put one together for you. Or start collecting small logs and make your own.

I'd shop facebook marketplace!
Hi Sylus. Goodwill receives donations from people who have items too nice to throw away. I have donated to them when we downsized our home, we're empty nesters now. One was a Lane Bryant sleeper sofa that we paid over $1,000 for. I don't know what price they sold it for but I'm sure it was a bargain. Best wishes for a happy, healthy holiday season.
Pottery Barn has very good furniture
I have looked for reasonably priced, well made solid wood furniture and I've been very disappointed at the stores, too expensive and not well made. I agree with the people who suggest Goodwill shops. I have found entire sets there, solid wood, great drawer function and awesome prices. Wood is amazing and easy to clean or makeover if you wish.
My local Salvation Army has 75% off their prices at least twice a year. I got a solid oak dining room table for only $15. Be patient and call them to find what specials they are running. Good luck!!
I would check thrift stores and marketplace. You can get pieces that “go” even if they diner match. You can paint or stain to bring together.

Check out this American furniture manufacturer - https://www.stuartdavid.com/
I bought a bed frame from them, and a few nightstands
I so want to learn more about it too
I have had great luck with American Furniture Warehouse. They always have a lot in their clearance area and you can end up with some great deals. My entire house is pretty much furnished from there.
