Dowel and Twine Tree
I had so much fun making this wooden dowel and twine tree with Lowe’s Canada that I just had to share!!
Start with laying out your dowels and precutting your twine.
The top dowel was cut to 4.25” and the bottom was cut to 26.75”. The 4 pieces in between were cut gradually bigger moving downwards.
The string can be cut to length you desire for your tree.
I didn’t have a huge space to hang the tree so needed to keep it quite compact.
I then began tying knots on each piece, moving my way down.
Make sure to lift it up to make sure the tree is hanging level, as you may have to adjust some of the twine lengths.
I then trimmed the knots down a little, as I wanted to wrap the ends in twine to give it a more finished look. Be careful not to cut too short as the knots will come apart.
I then wrapped the twine on the edges, gluing it down with my hot glue gun.
This step was totally for looks and is optional :)
Now it was time for the fun stuff, the decorating!
I added battery operated twinkle lights, and tucked the battery pack behind the top hanging hook.
Then I finished it off with some faux greenery and some dried orange slices.
This was such a fun and easy project!

Have a question about this project?
I don’t have time to get dowels but I have a bunch of left over wood trim and different moldings. I even have large broken frame sides I can use.
You’ve inspired me!
