Have you seen stripes on walls or furniture but didn’t know where to start on creating them yourself? Here’s a easy way to create some!

*Please keep on mind that time will vary on the size of your project.

Supplies! You’ll need at least two different colors for your stripes. And some painters tape. And of course a paint or foam brush. Whichever you prefer to apply the paint.

Paint two coats (or more if needed) of your base color. Allow to dry completely in between coats.

I used white swan by DIY paint as my base color.

Once the paint is completely dry it’s time to start measuring out your lines.

Get a piece of painters tape and cut it the length you need to cover the length of you piece.

Here’s a painters tip!

to keep the paint from pulling up the first layer of paint, put the tape on your clothing quickly to soften the stickiness.

Then cut a piece of painters tape about half the length of piece. This will be your guide for the next line. Put it right up against your first tape line.

Leave the smaller piece there and apply your next piece of tape.

Gently peel off the the smaller piece of tape.

And continue this step until you get to where you want your stripes to end.

You can use different widths of tape. Just follow the same instructions.

Time for your second color.

Paint the open spaces your second color. Try your best not to create back and forth strokes. Painting one direction will help keep the paint from going under the tape. I applied two coats of the second color.

Once the second color has completely dried. Gently peel off the tape to reveal your stripes!

Touch up areas with a fine artist brush if necessary.

There you have it! Even stripes!

Make sure you press firmly on the very edges of the tape to prevent bleed thru for crisp lines
