How do I match different style bureaus
I have 4 small different style bureaus - one antique, one modern, one plain and one from an old bedroom set. All are wood. I want to match them in some way to so I can use them all in the same room and have some cohesiveness to the group. Do I just paint them all the same color? Use the same hardware each? Any ideas?

Hi Lynn that's exactly what I was thinking! Paint to match and use similar (or the same) hardware. If some of them have really ornate wood pieces on them and others are more modern you could consider taking off the filigree etc.
That's is exactly I would do. Paint them. You can paint them completely or paint the cases and stain the tops. Drawer hardware can also be painted the same color on all. With 4 different styles similar hardware on all may not look right for a style.
Oh, sounds like a fun project.
You could paint them similarly and vary them yet tie them together, to do this you could use furniture transfers. Take a look here, plus they give you instructions on how to do this:

Hello. Yes I believe your instincts are spot on. Paint and hardware would unify your mismatched beautifully.
First check your antique for price, you may not want to paint it. But I like wood, and I would probably sand them down and stain them all the same color and then make sure all the hardware is the same.
Hi! Your ideas are great! When one of my daughters had her first apartment, she painted all the bedroom furniture the same color and used the same hardware on them. They started out very mismatched, but, ended up very elegant. Good luck and stay safe!
If you are new to painting furniture, you might want to consider painting just the drawer fronts first all the same color, rather than the entire unit.
Also, putting fabric runners all the same material over the tops of all the dressers will help make them look more cohesive.
I totally agree with same paint color and hardware!
I would paint them all the same color (white or gray perhaps), then perhaps the top you could do in a natural wood color. The same hardware would help coordinate them as well.
If they are made of nice wood, then i would strip them down to the wood, pick a stain you like and finish them with the same stain. Same hardware too...
You could paint them coordinating colors and use similar hardware
You could paint them all the same color and get them matching knobs/drawer pulls, etc.
Hello, Can you post photo's of them so we can give a personalized answer! Unfortunately we can't see what you see.
Thank you but I have taken feedback from others and have painted all the bureaus the same and I like the look!
