Up-style Your Old Decor
I am a firm believer in using what you already have as much as possible. That’s why I decided instead of getting rid of old decor I didn’t like anymore, I would up-style it!
I have had this sign for a long time and I love it so much but I was ready for a change. Instead of getting rid of it, I decided to give it a new look with some paint. First, I used painters tape to tape off the edges.
Next, I used a foam brush to paint the sign with black chalkboard paint. I love the matte finish of this chalkboard paint and it’s so easy to use.
I found it at hobby lobby but you can find it on Amazon or at your local craft store!
I let the first coat dry for an hour before putting on my second coat. The second coat had to cure overnight.
After the paint had time to cure overnight, I covered the whole sign with good old fashioned white chalk to activate the chalkboard paint. All of the instructions were written on the back of the paint bottle, so each paint may have different cure times. Make sure to read the instructions prior to painting!
Finally, I used a chalk marker to write “laundry” on the sign and it was ready to hang!
TaDa! All done! What do you think??
