Making a Coat/ Towel Rack Out of Odds and Ends
When my sister in law and her husband were downsizing and selling their house I inherited alot of their stuff. One was a beautiful antique bed. There was a matching dresser and washing stand. They kept those but removed some of the pieces that were attached to it. So I brought them home. They have sat in my basement for two years. We lacked space to hang our towels etc on, every time we went to my mom's so I thought I would use these pieces to create this rack in our bedroom there as this is where the antique bed ended up. So it would be a perfect match.
So here are the pieces. The smaller decorative one was from the top of a large mirror and the longer one is from the washing table.
As you can see from the picture there are these little knobs on the piece from the mirror. Using my hand saw I removed them.
Next step was to cut off the sides from the wash stand so all I would be left with is the board.
So I am now left with this.
Next step is to grab the No More Nails.
I turned over the decorative piece and applied the glue along the bottom. Turned it over and pressed it firmly to the other board and let dry overnight.
So here is the piece all together.
I found these hooks at Home Depot and purchased 4. I placed them on the board and determined spacing then attached using a screwdriver.
Next I needed something to hang my rack. I had these hooks in my toolbox and attached to the back of my rack.
Here is my rack complete.
This was a super easy project and cost me less than $15 to create. We now have the extra space to hang our things.
This is the bed that matches the pieces I used. It also has the decorative top than can sit on top of the headboard.

Turned our nice. A nice “flare” of style. This is one of those projects you have to have right piece fall into your lap; if I went looking for similar or equal I could spend eternity sourcing
