Making tasty baked potatoes has never been easier, thanks to this microwave potato bag. Just put the potato in it, slide the bag into the microwave, turn it on, and your potato will be ready before you know it.
It’s easy to make this bag, and it doesn’t take long, so let’s check out the process together!
Cut and stack the fabrics
Cut out 22 x 10 inches big piece from the main fabric, the batting, and the lining.
Place the batting onto your workspace, then put the main fabric on top of it with its right side facing up. Put the lining over it, with its right side facing down. Align the edges and pin everything together.
Sew the potato bag
Stitch around the fabric sandwich. Leave a small opening unstitched for turning.
Clip the corners. Reach inside the opening, grab between the lining and the main fabric, and turn the thing inside out. Push out the corners.
Fold the raw edges on the opening inside and pin them. Press the entire fabric with your iron.
Topstitch around the fabric sandwich as close to the edge as possible.
Mark the fold lines
Set the fabric on your workspace so that the short edges are on the left and right, while the lining is facing up.
Mark 3 inches from the left and 7.5 inches from the right.
Finish the potato bag
Fold the right side at the mark. Then fold the left side on the mark.
Press everything with your hands and pin the top and the bottom edges.
Stitch the edges you pinned.

Frequently asked questions
Have a question about this project?
I don't bake many potatoes in the microwave and when I have I either wrapped then in plastic wrap or just nuked them naked. So I'm confused as to the purpose or need of the bag. Does the bag keep the skin soft? (I know some like soft skins while others like crispy skins.) I'm just curious, since I usually do my baked potatoes in the oven.
