Hi Deb the two things that have worked best for me is to fill in with both mulch and native perennials that do well in my soil. I find the perennials are actually the best fighters when it comes to keeping the weeds back!
Hello Deb, here's an article that may help you with the problem.

1 gallon of vinegar
1 cup of salt
1 tablespoon of vinegar
This is if you want a all natural weed killer. Spray on in the morning when it is hot and sunny. Sort of cooks and dries up the weeds. But you will need to apply often but super cheap, effective and safe.
I pull up the weeds before I plant, turn the soil over, plant my flowers and then I put down mulch. I even put it in my patio pots. Never have a weed problem after it's down.
Hi! In addition to mulch, I use landscape fabric to control weeds.
This recipe will work for you, I use it as in my flower beds

I've used a product called 'Preen' with success.
Don’t use any mix containing salt around flowers or it’ll kill them too. Really the only way is to pull them and get their roots. Get one of those stand up twist weeders, those work.
Hi Deb, water them then pull as many as you can, sadly you can have to selectively pick the weeds from the flowers, you can make a weed killer to put on the weeds, use a small paint brush to apply to the weeds by hand if the flowers are too close, other wise you can spray
