I’m obsessed with the easiest DIY I’ve done in a long time that gives a major upgrade to such an inexpensive item! Aging terracotta pots is SO easy with using fast acting gardening lime, it’s so easy that when I’ve seen this method done in the past that I honestly just rolled my eyes thinking it couldn’t be that easy to get beautifully aged terracotta pots…I mean, have you seen how much nice pots cost? But I’m a believer & had to share how I aged my inexpensive terracotta pots with you!
This method for giving your terracotta pots an aged look and also cools down their tone while giving your porch a major upgrade on a budget. So let’s get started!
What you need to Age Terracotta Pots
+ Water
+ A bowl or bucket to mix in
+ Foam Brush
+ Sandpaper (I used 160 grit)
+ Matte Clear Poly Spray
How to Age Terracotta Pots
- Mix together 1 cup of gardening lime with 3/4 cup of water (I used my foam brush to mix it).
- With a sponge brush paint over your, if your bowl is big enough you can dip/roll your pot in the mixture.
- Let dry completely, it helps to put them in a sunny spot.
- Sand as needed to create the look you desire, this can help create a smoother finish or give a more worn look
- Spray your pots with matte clear poly & you’re done!
