Repurposing Jeans Into Kitchen Decor
I loved these jeans so much. They were a staple in my wardrobe for many years through many moments and memories. When they were ripped in places I dare not share, I added them to my fabric stash. It makes my heart so happy when I can take something I love that doesn’t work anymore and turn into something new. Recycled craft projects like this are a great way to teach kids (of all ages mind you) to make good use of what they have. With a few other items from my craft stash, I turned this pair of jeans into some awesome kitchen items.
What will you need?
- Jeans
- Fabric

I started out making an oven pad with these awesome supplies.
Here is a picture tutorial.
Written Directions for Repurposing Jeans Into Kitchen Decor
If pictures are not your thing…
- Cut two 7 inch squares from your jeans.
- Cut one 6 1/2 inch square from your Spoonflower fabric.
- Sew them together leaving the outer half inch of the jean squares untouched.
- Quilt a little in the middle. Add a heart or whatever is clever.
- Trim your strings.
- Cut around the edge every smidgen you can into the first stitch without cutting it.
My Favorite Sewing Supply List
These are the sewing supplies that I keep on hand at all times. They get used over and over again and again in so many of my projects.
- Sewing Machine – This one has FIFTY built in stitches!
- Thread
- Ready Made Bobbins – I am not a fan of making my own bobbins so I LOVE these.
- Fabric Scissors – These are great because they cut through multiple layers of fabric.
- Pin Cushion and Pins – The cuter the better. I love this hedgehog.
- Poly-FIl Stuffing for Pillows
- Poly-Pellets for Bean Bags and Weighted Projects – The POUR bag makes all the difference.
- Rotary Cutter and Mat
Ta Da! The finished decor for the kitchen is not only super adorable but also totally usable.
I used some more of the materials to embellish this dish towel.
I am in love with the frayed part at the bottom. It was worn over many steps…many many steps.
And then a slice of the leg to make this fun decor for a jar.
There are so many ways to Repurposing Jeans Into Kitchen Decor. I bet you can think of even more. Some other ideas that come to mind are:
- Placemats
- Table Runner
- Cookbook Cover
- Wall Art
I love this stuff. I will now have a piece of many memories of many traveled places in my kitchen…hidden in the secret of the jean decor.
Cheers,
Laura
