A step by step guide to repurposing a grandfather clock into a lantern that you can use for all seasons.

The Grandfather clock looks beautiful. The inside space is large enough to add lots of seasonal decor.

The grandfather clock box was in pretty rough shape when I found it, but it was too pretty to toss it out. I gave it a good cleaning. Then I added a base and the back out of plywood, as they were missing.

I taped all around the glass, so that the stain didn't get on it. I used a lint free cloth to rub on the stain. I let it dry completely. Then, I removed the tape.

I used wood glue to attach the finial to the top of the clock box. Then I used blue tape to hold the finial in place until it dried.

And that's it. I am so pleased with how it turned out. I am thrilled to be able to save such a beautiful vintage heirloom.
