How to Mosaic a Plant Pot With Old China Plates.
Plants are so gorgeous and therapeutic to grow and nurture so I feel a lovingly decorated plant pot is just the thing to show them off.
I choose a terracotta small round pot bought from local garden centre.
I use some old vintage saucers and plate to make the tiles from as it’s an affordable option and great way to recycle too!
I cut the ceramic into small pieces using wheeled tile nippers. These are really useful and easy to cut tiles but wear protective eye goggles .
I begin gluing tiles along the rim of the pot. Turning the pot upside down to prevent tiles slipping.
i carry of building up the layers with a range of the crockery small cut pieces.
When all the pot is covered in mosaic tiles and the glue is dry, the pot is ready to be grouted. I use ready mixed grout in black. Place a blob onto the pot and begin working it into the crevices.
When it’s covered it’s time to clean off the excess grout and tidy the pot up ready for the plant.
It’s slowly coming together and I make sure I clean in between the tiles of any build up of excess grout .
I’m thrilled with how it turned out !

Have a question about this project?
which specific glue did you use - by name
How well did this hold up once you plant in the pot? I've never had any luck with decorated terracotta pots holding up unless I paint the inside first. Love this idea.
Love the pot but what is the name of the plant in the top photo? Most unusual and pretty.
