Although the portion of the weed plant that is seen above the ground will die with solutions such as vinegar or salt poured on them, unless the root is either dug out or fully killed, the plants will continue to grow.
The cheapest way to get rid of weeds above ground is just to pull them out.
Here's a recipe:
The combination of lemon juice and vinegar may be more effective at killing weeds than using each ingredient alone. Using double the amount of vinegar to lemon juice in a homemade mixture may have the best results. Use caution when using lemon juice and vinegar as a weed spray. Lemon juice and vinegar can kill any type of plant, so when spraying your weeds, make sure you avoid the plants you want to keep.

Here's what I use: Take a spray bottle and cover the bottom with salt and fill it up with vinegar. Add a few drops of dish soap and shake. Spray on the weeds.

I've had excellent results using a 3-part recipe. 1 gallon of wite vinegar, 1/2-1 cup table salt, and a good squirt of Dawn dishwashing liquid. The mixtue can be placed in a garden spray or spray bottle. Spray the weeds well and wait a day or two, they'll die! Don't use on any other plants you want to thrive.
I use one cup of vinegar, one cup of salt to two gallons water in a garden sprayer. Saturate the weeds till dripping. Do not use on lawn or in garden. Will kill everything. Boiling water on weeds in lawn and garden.
Hi! Vinegar or hot water both work. Some weeds are so persistent you have to dig them up! Good luck!
2 cups white vinegar
¼ cup salt
Squirt of dawn
Mix in a spray bottle. If you have a larger area, you can mix in a garden sprayer with larger quantities. Use when it will not be raining for a few hours so that it isn’t washed away.
