Upcycling Gazebo Frames for the Garden
One of my favorite things to do when I go north to my mom's house is to visit the local dump. My hometown small dump separates all of the stuff brought into the dump in piles and has a big storage container for used furniture, household items and books. It's open to the public and I'm on a first name basis with the dump manager! On my last visit home I found two gazebo frames calling my name. With the help of my sister we loaded them and took them home. I already had a plan for this find.
Here are my frames, they are quite large and heavy! Over all they were in pretty good shape so I just hosed them down to remove the dirt.
Once dry I laid them on a tarp in my mom's shed for painting.
I chose this Key Lime Green spray paint. It's super bright and I love the color!
Here are my frames painted. It took two coats, lightly spraying them. It would have been easier to do standing them up outside and spraying but it was super windy.
As mentioned, these are going in my mom's garden to use as a trellis. Normally I would have dug in the ground and buried it about a foot but I didn't want to disturb anything that was already growing. So I used two small posts from a snow fence and attached the frame to it. The plant in the pot is called a Thumbergia vine also known as a brown eyed Susan. This vine grows quickly and lasts til fall.
Here are both frames in my mom's garden. Can't wait to go home again and see how much they've grown!
This is two gazebo frames in my garden at my house. They were smaller so I joined the two together to make a pillar.
This is my other one with my clematis climbing up it. This was a curb find. These make great trellises. Even if you don't have a vine climbing up them, they are a great accent to a garden.
