Mr Buddha
So I had previously painted this Buddha but he peeled and looked very sad!!!
so I decided to give him a fresh coat of paint to try put the smile back on his face!!!
I gave him a bath in vinegar and baking soda!!!
gave him a good scrub to try lift and flaky paint off him
Dried him off and he was ready for a paint.
Decided to paint him in Fusion Mineral Paint in homestead blue!
I sat him on a little cardboard box so I wouldn’t get paint on the counter while I painted around the bottom edge!!!
After I did one coat I wrapped my brush in cling film (seran wrap I think it’s also called - in Ireland we call it cling film) because I didn’t want to wash it out as I needed a second coat!!
Here’s a time lapse of me painting it!!!
First coat - done!
he needed a few hours to dry!
Close up of the second coat going on!
Here my little Buddha is - happy out with his makeover!!!!
what do you think of him?
Enjoyed the project?

He is definitely happy with his new color. Love the color too! I can almost hear Buddha here in the USA greeting us with “Namaste!” Great save of this piece!

Bold color. Looks great.
I have been at this for a long time. Did a lot of refinishing early on, but then it seemed nobody wanted natural wood finish. Then there was a period where if you painted it white with some distressing, it sold. Then it switched to black. Black with red under tones showing thru was popular also. Now there is a myriad of colors.
