Rose bush?
I have a rose bush that has a very thick stem shooting up the middle of the plant. It changes the shape of the plant. It does have maybe 10 buds on that branch that are about to open. Should I trim it off? Would it hurt the plant?

I'd enjoy the flowers first, then trim it back.
Hi Janet, why not let the buds open first and then trim it down. It won't harm the rose bush.
I'd leave it until after the flowers bloom, or cut it just as they are ready and bring the flowers inside to enjoy.
Bring on the blooms that are going to come out and then trim it the way you'd like to see it. You might get more roses growing out horizontally after trimming.
You can trim the branch away after the roses have bloomed without harming the main bush.
Trim after blooming to be on the safe side.
Wait until the bush has bloomed.
Wait until it has bloomed
You can wait till it blooms or trim it before it blooms. Personal choice. You won't harm it either way. At this point a lot of energy is going to the stem from the rest of the bush. Still won't harm the bush.
Hi Janet,
It wont hurt the plant, but you will loose all those flowers. Why not let them flower and then cut the stem off.
Don’t trim it till the fall after all roses have stopped blooming
In my opinion, I'd rather enjoy the blooms, then when they die, you could trim it back.
I would leave it until the flowers die, then trim. It will not hurt the plant.
