Pottery Barn Inspired Horse Triptych

Using 3 artist canvases that I had one hand, along with flat black latex paint and chalk. I was able to make this large triptych for very little money. If you have wooden planks on hand...even better!
Pottery Barn's latest catalog had a beautiful horse sketch done on 3 large wooden plank pieces. I didn't have any planks on hand but I did have 3 artists canvases.
Using brown kraft paper the size of the 3 canvases, I sketched out the horse to make sure the proportions were right. You can do this method with an overhead projector or even by enlarging a drawing using your copier.
Trace your drawing onto the canvases and begin building up your lines by using light, sketch marks. The more you work with it, the better it will become. And, remember, this is just chalk so it's very forgiving.
