From Door To Built In Cabinet Transformation

We recently made a big change to the back of our home with the addition of a screened in porch and deck. When we decided to move forward with the project we had the opportunity to make a few changes to the interior as well. One of the most exciting changes was when we made the decision to remove the existing exterior door and replace it with built in cabinets. One on the inside of our home and one on our new enclosed porch.
Here is what the door looked like before.
Here is what the door looked like before.
And now for the after. Here you can also see that we had the bay window removed which I will be sharing more about on my blog soon.
The area where the door once was went from this.
To this.
We now have so much additional cabinet storage and shelves for books and family photos and made such better use of this space.
You can read more about this project and our entire porch addition on my blog. Hope you will stop by to check it out! I will also be posting more projects on Hometalk very soon!
Enjoyed the project?

Have a question about this project?
Hi, Did you have a cabinet maker make the base cabinet and is the upper unit a cabinet or wood work attached to the three walls inside the previous door opening? Thanks
