Skyline Ponds on Oct 02, 2012How do you deal with Winterization?

Ponds Inc. of Illinois, Jason Lenox on Oct 02, 2012Thank you for your question Skyline Ponds! This system could run all winter long if preferred. We like to keep large systems like these running to November to keep the bog filtration operating. This system has 3 large 20,000 GPH pumps that are removed and stored and 3 10,000 GPH pumps which are connected to jetting outlets and beach waterfalls. The smaller pumps are optional removal and would normally be kept running to keep holes open in the ice for gases to escape. In this case, there also is a bottom aeration system installed that turns the water over throughout the winter months and creates an area for gases to escape. I hope this answers your question for this particular pond Skyline Ponds. Let me know if you have any others. Different ponds can require different procedures. Smaller ponds have similar steps and here is a video link detailing those steps to winter preparation. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Oql2550YZl0&feature=player_detailpage
