A New Leaf: Mason Jars

I love the warm glow these mason jars add to my home! Such an easy project!
Here they are glowing!
First you need some Mason jars. I went to Goodwill to get them cheap! You will also need spray adhesive and gold leafing which can both be found at any craft store.
Next I sprayed the jars (Make sure to do this in a large box or outside to prevent it going everywhere! I than gently laid the jar on the foil rolling it to allow it to pick up the foil. I than took a clean paint brush and gently pushed the foil in place. Adding small pieces to the areas that were missing the foil. Once completed I sprayed them with a clear polyurethane coat so they were protected.
I think these would also look beautiful as a vase. But the warm glow from a candle is so wonderful!
Enjoyed the project?

Comet on Jan 05, 2015IF you glue other shapes UNDER the leaf you can get nice effects---you can use torn paper; string; leaves; anything that will give you a difference in surface that can be adhered. You can also sgrafitto off some of the leaf so the light peeks thru--endless possibilities!
