DIY Desk Organizer From Recycled Mason Jars

I wanted to get my desk organized for the new year without spending a lot of money. By recycling some old jars and revamping a thrift store basked, I made a desk organizer without spending a penny!
I already had two painted mason jars left over from fall decorating, but I needed one more. I chose an empty salsa jar from my stash and gave it a coat of flat black spray paint from Rust-Oleum.
I like the flat finish for some projects, and for this one, it worked especially well because I would be glamming it up with gold accents.
After the paint was dry, I added gold dots and some twine. Then, I grouped all three jars together in a star-shaped basked that I had previously found at the thrift store. I was using it to hold gold ornaments at Christmas.
It works great for holding pens, scissors and other items. Plus, I found that I can tuck note pads, a small stapler and tape in the areas around the jar. Best of all, since I had all of the supplies, this organizer was free! You can find more photos and additional details on the blog.
