I don’t know about you but I hate doing laundry. The only thing I hate more than laundry is losing socks from one load to another! I usually just throw them back into the dirty laundry basket until a mate can be found. Well, no more!!
I saw this idea on Pinterest and I loved it. Here is the original idea:
I saw this idea on Pinterest and I loved it. Here is the original idea:
Materials I used:
1 piece of Basswood Project wood (from Hobby Lobby)
1 Jar of Americana Chalky finish in the color: Escape
Mod Podge Gloss Sealer
Americana Acrylic Paint in Snow White
1 2″ Paint Brush
First, I started with my Wood and brushed off all the splinters.
I left it overnight to dry. The next day I took the Americana acrylic paint and painted “Lost Socks” on the top of the board, freehand.
Using the hot glue gun I glued four clothes pins to the board as evenly spaced as I could. The original idea had five clothes pins on it but my wood is a bit smaller than in the example so I limited mine to four clothes pins. I debated painting the fronts of the clothes pins but decided against it.
Enjoyed the project?

Dee on Feb 11, 2015Cute idea. I used to have an old bassinette in the laundry room where I would toss my socks to sort, challenging my little ones to find matches for the 'unwed' socks. They liked the game, and the socks were usually repatriated. Eventually, if there were some that never found a mate, they became dusting/polishing clothes (White) or doll clothes. Now i have a granddaughter, I found that she often prefers a different sock on each foot. We grannies don't sweat the small stuff with our grandbabies . . . I would never let my kids go with unmatched socks! lol
