What I Did When I Didn't Want to Spend $20+ Per Letter...Made My Own!

$18.00

When I was staging our latest Flip House, I wanted some tall letters, preferably distressed wood, that would spell out E-A-T. But, my local Hobby Lobby was charging $20+, and I just could not see spending that when my budget was already so small. So, I decided to create my own.
I found these letters for $9.99 each. Cardboard letters. I knew they would be easy to paint. So I used my 40% off coupon and spent $18 total.
I then lightly dry brushed ASCP Provence Blue all over each letter.
I purposely left some areas of the carbboard letters exposed, because I think it looked like rustic wood showing through.
I am thinking it took me all of 5 mins to paint the blue on all three letters.
Once the paint was dry, I dipped a rag into some Ebony stain. (Just some regular ole' stain leftover from another project.)
And this is what I ended up with. These Distressed Wood-look Letters for $18.
Perfect for the Accent Wall in the Kitchen. I used Duck-brand Poster Putty to help them stay on the wall, which worked great because they were so lightweight.
I don't know about you, but $18 sure does sound a lot better than $60. To see this project in its entirety, please visit the blog article at The Everyday Home. (link below)
