Giving Old Concrete Planters New Life
by
The Painted Drawer by Suzanne Bagheri
(IC: blogger)
I was given these old concrete planters and decided they could use a facelift. They are pretty old, with chips and missing pieces but have great detail. They are also solid concrete and extremely heavy! More details on the blog - www.thepainteddrawer.com!
Here is the before pic. You can see the detail and they are a good size.
Taking chalk paint, I applied a wash of the color Provence by Annie Sloan.
The concrete soaked it up like a sponge. I ended up using a really thick coat of wash as it just kept disappearing into the concrete!
After stippling it in, the detail of the planter pops and it has given them new life! The flowers helped too lol!
I really like how the paint has an aged look on the concrete.
They make a nice addition to my patio.
They have a very french look now.
Even Lucky is pleased :)
