I love to upcycle things that are headed for the trash or the recycling bin, and these pretty faux mercury glass vases are no exception.
I started with clean pickle jars and baby food jars. My technique to create faux mercury glass isn't the usual one - I use mirror spray paint with metallic oil rubbed bronze spray paint misted over top for a vintage effect.
I sprayed the jars with several light layers of mirror paint, and then I misted them with oil rubbed bronze paint.
The result is so pretty - I love the look of these upcycled faux mercury glass vases!
