Drastic Before/After Bathroom Remodel (all DIY!)

We had it all the undesirables in our bathroom when we moved in: carpet, floor-to-ceiling peeling wallpaper, miss-aligned sconces, leaking faucets, etc. With lots of tutorial reading and elbow grease, we transformed the bathroom in to something that we are proud of!
Before and After
There were a ton of DIY's in this bathroom including a repurposed leather belt plant hanger, a string planter and a DIY privacy window cling.
The medicine cabinet was an awesome find that I just love!
We relocated the sconces so they were centered between the sinks (so that the mirrors could be directly over the sinks). The can lights were spray painted white (they were a dingy yellow).
Thrifted accents helped keep the cost of the decor down.
We took out the old carpet and laid the tile ourselves. We bought wood grain white washed tile and are in love the ease of keeping it clean.
We kept the old tub and the old green/yellow tile. Both were in good shape, so we wanted to save money by using what we had.
All the plumbing was replaced and shutoff valves were added to the two sinks as well as the toilet. We upgraded the toilet to a water saving one and also replaced the old sinks and faucets.
I hope you stop by my blog to see more details and let me know what you think!

Awesome job!! I love the light yellow accents with the gray, and honestly didn't even notices the old tile at first :)

    • @Emily @ Table & Hearth Thanks Emily! I'm a bit over the yellow/gray but it worked well with the existing tile. Maybe I'll win the lottery and I can get the bathroom of my dreams. lol. =)

When I met my husband his parents had carpet in the bathroom and kitchen and I thought it was super strange....would you believe that the house we bought did, too?! Unbelievable...I'm designing our new bath right now and could cut and paste this layout! Super great!!!

    • @Treasuredchaos.com I was talking to my Grandma about the carpet when we first moved in. She said that when she redid her bathroom in the 80s, that it was a normal thing to put carpet in. So weird! Good luck on your reno!
