Vintage Inspired Girls Nursery Makeover

For before pictures scroll to section labeled "The Work"For decor and room details look below

This room was my sons nursery and it was actually really cute when it was fully decorated in a monochrome desert theme. But, when we found out we would be adding a little girl into our family we knew we would have to choose between this room and our oldest sons room for her. We choose this one so we wouldn't have to "up root" the 3 year old from his room and we moved his brother into his room (after a pretty epic room makeover in there as well).

With two boys (3 and 1) I knew I would be going ALL out on this little girls nursery and yes it was going to be pink and girly, because let's be honest, for now this room is more for me than her and if she decides she hates flowers and pink we will change it.

I wanted this room to have a very vintage/victorian feel to it but still have a modern up to date feel. I also chose to do less decor than I typical would do in order to let the wallpaper really shine in this space for now. I can always add more and that is what I prefer!

A simple name sign is above the changing table and I've add 6 baskets, this replaces a typical dresser for the time being.

An amazing rocking chair that is now going onto its third baby is a stable in my nurserys and I'm happy it's an item that has memories from all my babies. I've added a lumbar pillow and a cute stuffed animal.

Changing table: Jenny Lind (DaVinci Baby) Name sign: 48 Hour Monogram Baskets: Target Rocking chair (similar): Amazon Pillow: Hobby Lobby Bunny: Cuddle & Kind (Hannah Bunny) Green end table: Amazon Lamp was from facebook market place so unfortunately I don't have a link.

I wanted everything in this room to flow together and I did that by having items in the same texture and color. Baskets, pillow, curtain ties, and stool are all in a light tan color and a woven texture.

The curtains I wanted to be luxurious but also not stand out againtst the wall. These are a double layer with a blackout panel on the back and a fun tul overlay on the front side. The gray scallops help to match the grey rocking chair.

I knew I wanted a floor length mirror in here to really add to that victorian/girly feel and I love that this one really warms up the space with it's natural wood stain

To add some interest to this corner I added a boho stool to give it a "dressing" area feel.

The detail in this rug is still something I find so beautiful. When choosing a rug for this space I knew it could not compete with the wallpaper but also still add interest. I wanted it to look vintage but also ground this main focal wall.

I wanted a crib that looked elegant but also again, simple and clean looking to not take away from the bold wall color or wallpaper. This one will grow with her into a daybed and normal bed when ready.

A simple mobile that also is the same color/texture as the other decor pieces in this room help tie this wall area in to the other areas. I love the unicorns for this room because I think it helps add a fairytale like aspect.

With all the pink in here I wanted to add some green and a faux tree really helps to fill a corner while giving some height to it. I also added her wooden play gym to this corner.

The closet will soon be re done to be a completely custom built in but for now we left it as it was from when we built this bookcase style built in for when our son had this room. I did paint the walls in here Classic Grey by Benjamin Moore.

I added white storage baskets to break up the wood and tie in the whites of the furniture. I love having an open closet in here because it does make it an extension of the room instead of a closed off space.

I used jewelry stand for her bows and just added some decor to this area. I plan to hang the flower basket off a wall hook eventually but for now I love it in here too.

The Work

This is the mood board I designed before starting on this room, I am pretty proud at how I brought this to life!

Bead board was so easy to work with and highly recommend it for any beginner DIY'ers. I have a full tutorial here: Beadboard Information

Moving onto the closet area: I originally planned to leave it as is and add doors until we were ready to convert it to a full built in similar to this one we did in our boys room: Built in closet

But I couldn't handle the thought of all her pretty girly clothes against a black wall, so I gave the wall a fresh coat of Classic Grey by Benjamin Moore until we decide what we will be doing in there. I also think the wood tones blend well with the rest of the wood and natural accents in this space.

I absolutely adore this makeover and I hope you did too! There is always a project to do so I hope you follow along on my social media accounts where I share my life as a Mom of 3 and all things DIY Home!
