Antique Washstand

Andrea from Crossroad Creations used our limited edition color, Sunday Tea topped with Natural Wax and Willow antiquing dust to turn this antique washstand into a stunning piece of decor!
I love trying out new products and finishes, so when the new Antiquing Dust was announced I knew that I had to try it. I think it gave the perfect aged finish to this antique washstand. I will outline how I achieved this look in this blog post.
This piece was a very dark wood, so I chose to apply a stain blocking primer before beginning since I knew that I would be painting it a light colour. I chose to use a previous limited edition paint colour called Sunday Tea. After two coats of paint, it was ready to be lightly distressed and then waxed.
I loved how it remained in the brush strokes, giving a very natural aged look without darkening the paint colour too much.
I had painted the inside, but did not use the Antiquing Dust on this area.
I am so glad I tried out the Antiquing Dust and am looking forward to trying some of the different shades in my next projects! If you follow the tips in the tutorial on the Country Chic Paint website, it is an easy to use product to help update a tired piece of furniture. I can now see this washstand as being a chic and functional piece of furniture and I hope you agree!
