Farmhouse Style for a Repurposed Drawer

Want to know what to do with an old drawer? Here's what I did with this drawer I had from an old dresser that was too far gone to repair.

I started with this drawer, removed the pull and gave it a gentle sanding with my Sanding Glove.

I loved these casters, but they had a long shaft on them meant for use on furniture legs with lots of depth.

So I cut up some wood blocks to use as a base which would hold the shaft and allow me to use these casters. (More on this step in my actual blog post).

I screwed each of the wood blocks on the base of the drawer from the inside of the drawer.

I used some stain I had on hand to match the caster blocks to the wood a little better before I was to paint the drawer.

I mixed up some Miss Mustard Seed's Milk Paint in the colour, Farmhouse White and gently painted it along the grain of the wood of the side of the drawer.

I used a clean rag cloth to wipe gently along the grain, removing excess paint and allowing it to remain in the grain of the wood.

I stepped back to look at my piece and decided it needed more depth, so I added some more paint in more random fashion, again going along the grain and removing excess as before.

Until I was happy with how it looked.

I added one of the new Miss Mustard Seed's brush stroke stencils called "Susan".

And then painted the drawer knob in a brassy, coppery metallic to match in better with the casters.

Ta-da! All ready to add your favourite magazines or extra cushions for your living room or bedroom!
