Safari Dresser Makeover
I am expecting my very first grandchild in June! I have heard that grandchildren are even better than children so I can not wait to experience that feeling.
Since I am a furniture painter I was given the task to find the perfect piece to go in the nursery.
No pressure, right?
After searching a few months I came across this wardrobe that would work perfect for them.
The things I knew about the nursery is that it was safari themed and the crib is a neutral wood tone.
My daughter picked this salmon color for the base and I sanded the wood down in front to reveal a light wood that would match the crib.
I needed this piece to be super special. My daughter trusted me and gave me some creative freedom.I stared at it for hours then finally decided to freehand some mountains on the back of the piece to create a safari scene of sorts.
I picked up some safari animal stencils at
Michaels to help.
I decided to make a family of elephants since my daughter has always loved them and it also will represent their little family.
Here is the entire scene I painted on the back of the inside.
On the inside of the front doors I freehanded some leafy things as well.
When you open the drawers for a fun touch I added more safari animals.
For the final touch I added a palm
wallpaper for drawer liners.
Here is the final look on the outside.
I surprised my daughter with the final look and she loved it.
It’s an honor to know this will get lots of use and last for years to come.
I have some videos on this piece on my Instagram and many other furniture flips.
