Hi Kat yep we need a bit more info though considering the dimensions I'm thinking you're trying to build a wide shelving unit? Here's a tutorial on one of my favorite simple shelving designs. https://www.hometalk.com/diy/decorate/walls/pipe-shelves-on-a-budget-8471010

Sorry it's a 15 feet by 2 feet narrow reach in closet with double sliding doors on each side and I just get clostrafobic
So are you trying to build a closet this size or make the one you have easier to reach into? not clear. Also a closet just 2' deep might not accommodate all hangers, so check that first as I have a hall closet light that and it has hooks instead of a rod.
I also find closet doors that are just 2 sliding ones make part of the closet unreachable so you can change those to bi-fold doors or loovered doors that swing out. Check Lowes and Home Depot stores for the kinds of doors available, take your measurements on the inside framing for height and width.
I also have one closet that I put a second rod in to hang pants on lower rack and blouses at the top.... makes it easier to find things as everything isn't crammed on one rod.
Are you trying to build this narrow closet, or how are you wishing to change the one you have? If it is already set up, I would do floating shelves with perhaps smaller baskets to help store items in it.
Please be more specific with your question so we can help you out..
