I accumulate so much scrap wood! I can't bring myself to throw it away either (total hoarder), so I store it in a closet. Once the closet gets full, I start making shelves of all different sizes. This shelf was made to go at the end of our upstairs hallway.
I just finished a cabinet for the end of an upstairs hallway and the scrap wood from that put my closet at max. I wanted a matching shelf to hang above the new cabinet, so it was time to get busy!
Look at all of that scrap wood! I drew the shapes I wanted for the shelf with a pencil and then used my jigsaw to cut them out.
I love antique and rustic looking shelves...wait..Wow, look at how messy my workshop is! I usually do a couple project at a time and am up to my knees in sawdust!
Blue paint and teak wax. The top and back pieces are from an old busted up pallet.
It looks good down there.
I have two lovely cats. A big boy named Pugsley and a lovely girl pictured here named Wednesday. Lavender and Orange essential oils are friendly and safe cat repellents. I keep them on my shelves, so the cats never play with the knickknacks. Those oils work like magic for me! My cats have never once grabbed or knocked something over.

Suzette on Dec 06, 2016This is really nice Bryan! I have the same problem saving all my wood. It's not hoarding, it's creativity and the desire to re purpose!! :)
