I've created countless furniture pieces out of pallet wood for others so I decided it's time to start making some stuff for myself. This piece took 3 super clean pallets and a little time. Sorry but I didn't start photo documentation until the point of this first pic.
I typically cut and sand each piece before I assemble for the simple fact I can pretty much go straight to colored finish after the build is complete. When this piece was finished I lightly went over it with some flat brown spray paint then a quick light sanding to make the wood appear weathered. Then I single coated the entire piece with Cabot Australian timber oil (jarrah brown). Then I gave the top three coats of Minwax Polycrylic (clear satin). Both the stain and clear coat dry very quickly so the finish process moves along pretty fast.
I started with some clean usable pallets. I ripped the pallet 2x4’s down the middle for legs and frame work. As always every piece is pre-sanded to allow the staining at the end a breeze. All my pieces are glued, screwed and nailed. I use screws on the frame work for strength where they cannot be seen, then my home rusted nails are used to hold all the boards down.
Ripped some pallet boards down to 1”x1” for the wine racks. I glued and nailed them in place.
Took it outside and gave it a light dusting with some flat brown spray paint then sanded it out slightly. This helps give it a weathered look.
This pic looks a little red due to the red sail shade overhead.

I stained it with Cabot Australian timber oil (jarrah brown). After that I gave the top 3 coats of Minwax polycrylic clear satin. This allows me to wash the top easily.
Fits right against the end of my kitchen counter perfectly.

I made the lower shelf convienient enough for my kitty's water bowl😺
