If your basement or garage is getting disorganized - and you're spending way too much time looking for things, it might be time to think about how you can bring in more organization.

If you have an available corner, you can easily turn that into shelving. I turned this wasted corner of garage space into a sliding storage tower.

The storage is had provided is amazing - we fit all of our holiday decorations, large tools, and yard items on it. The shelves are deep, yet slide out to reveal all of the contents.

The best part? It only took one weekend to build!
First, I determined a location for the shelving and came up with requirements I wanted to be met. I wanted deep shelves, so they would hold a lot. Yet, I also wanted to be able to reach everything in the back, so drawer slides were the perfect answer.
The location I used was this corner of space that was otherwise filled with yard tools, boxes, buckets, and all kinds of other things. It was truly wasted space. So I emptied out the space and got to work.
First, I constructed three legs with shelf supports and slide mounts. Next, I secured the legs with static shelves. I then attached the shelves to the sliding hardware. Last, I attached the stud mounts to the back.
It was a fairly simple project (the free plans are on our blog), and it was completed in just one weekend! Now we are looking for more places to build this sliding storage tower.
