I was in the Goodwill purchasing some flannel shirts for fabric pumpkins when I saw two lanterns and I immediately thought I would grab them for Halloween decorations.

With a coat of black spray paint those out-of-date lanterns turned into the perfect Halloween DIY decorations.

Flat black is my paint of choice for most of my Halloween up-cycle projects. BTW, adding the spray handle to the top makes it a breeze to paint a ton of items.icon I thought the lanterns could use a bow too.

I adore multi-ribbon bows since I can never choose just one ribbon.Bow makingSupply list

  • 1 Ribbons
  • 2 Ribbons
  • 3 Ribbons
  • 4 Ribbons
  • Wire cutters
  • Scissors
  • Pipe cleaners
  • Lanterns
  • Votive Mercury glass
  • Paint Lanterns
  • Paint Stool

This is what the bows look like before fluffing. You can see why I could not choose just one ribbon!

This cute red display stool was leftover from the 4th of July so I gave it an instant fall and holiday makeover with spray chalk paint. I used it to hold a pumpkin. See it in the photo below.

Decorating Halloween Hutch

This year my plan for decorating this Halloween is going to be a little different than I usual. I decided to included orange this year to my usual black and white decor. The stool I painted I placed on the floor and place a pumpkin on top which helps to draw the eye from the top to bottom of the China hutch.

The Boo Halloween hoop wreath was made by my daughter,  Olivia. She also up-cycled the black Boho pumpkin with diamonds using her  Cricut Maker see how she did it  here. Together we have worked on a ton of DIY Halloween Decorations.

These painted lanterns, with bows attached and mercury glass candle holders placed inside are adoring the top of my China hutch bringing smiles to everyone who dares to enter.

Adding a few real and fun faux pumpkins a top a Dollar Tree candle holder that I spray painted black makes an inexpensive and fun Halloween display. Signup to receive the Fall Inspiration Newsletter so you don't miss any inspiration.
