Have you started decorating for Halloween? It’s almost here! If you’re looking for a fun and easy Halloween or Day of the Dead decoration, hang my DIY Sugar Skull Banner!
The centerpiece of this banner is a colorful, hand drawn sugar skull inspired by the Day of the Dead, or Dia de los Muertos. Sugar skulls, or calaveras de azúcar, are a very common Day of the Dead symbol. They’re given as gifts to both the living and the dead.
Start by printing out the free printable sugar skull file (please visit my blog - link below - for the file) on card stock paper, then cut out the skulls.
Pull the stems off the faux flowers. Mine still had a little part that stuck out after I did that, so I snipped it off with my scissors.
Hot glue the skulls to the twine. I used a post it note to keep mine spaced evenly. Then glue the flowers in between the skulls. Tip: place the glue a little above the stem and your flowers will lay flatter.
