When I saw the Challenge Post for this week, I just knew that I had to do something with my most favorite animal on earth; the regal, stately elephant. The largest land animal in the world yet capable of gentleness that far surpasses others, even man at times. So with a blank slate and a mind filled with ideas, I began my challenge.
We had several 13X13 ceramic tiles that were leftovers from flooring our kitchen. I have always wanted to use them in a project, but they never clicked with any previous projects. That was until.....
The Valentine's Day Post Challenge.
My mind immediately reached back to the first time I saw two of the gentle pachyderms interact with each other. So, I found a silhouette of two of the giants with their trunks intertwined forming a heart. How much better could it get, I ask?
After cutting out the stencil, I used a spray adhesive to tack the outline to the tile. I then used a dark red quick-drying spray paint to color around the cut-out. After the paint dried, I gently lifted the cut-out from the tile and was left with a perfect outline.
I knew that the silhouette needed something extra, so I painted the cutout with white glue and sprinkled it with silver glitter giving the piece the regal feel that it deserved. Further, in order to draw the eye to the Valentine formed by the intertwined trunks, I included the word "Love".

With everything cut, painted, glued, and glittered, I present to you my Valentine's Day Challenge, "Elephant Love." Remember, never underestimate a woman who loves elephants.
