Whether you will be wrapping gifts for the upcoming Christmas season or for some other occasion, today’s project will come in handy, especially if you are sick of the traditional bling bling wrapping paper. Don’t get me wrong, bling bling wrapping paper is great, but we all need a little break from it. We will be mixing rustic materials such as kraft paper and rope with fancy ones like wire and leaves to create a perfect contrast.
First we will be making the polka dot wrapping paper. Simply grab the pencil with an eraser on one end and dip the eraser part into acrylic paint. Make sure you don’t have too much paint on. Press the painted eraser onto the kraft paper. Arrange the dots across the kraft paper however you like.
I have styled the polka dot paper by wrapping the rope around upper part of the box and adding three red wooden balls along with two green leaves which I have cut out of regular paper and painted green with a marker. I love how cute this turned out!
Next up is stamped kraft paper. But not stamped with any stamp, this one is stamped with our own stamp made from an eraser! Isn’t that cool? I have been seeing this a lot on Pinterest lately and couldn’t stop myself from trying. You will need an eraser. It is important to choose the slightly yellow one which tends to crumble and doesn’t bend easily. Draw your desired stamp design onto the the eraser. Shade all the parts which you want to end up on the stamp later. Carve the not shaded parts with carving knife. Fold a piece of old fabric a couple of times and apply acrylic paint on it. This will be our ink pad. Press the stamp on the painted fabric and transfer to kraft paper. Arrange the design however you like.
Style the stamped kraft paper with some rope and leaves.
The last wrapping paper is by far the easiest to make. All you need to do is take a marker or a roller pen and make a scribble on kraft paper. You can’t go wrong!
Style the scribble wrapping paper with some wire to go with “line” design.
This is how all three of them turned out. The perfect imperfection I would say.icon
